Cynthia White

Cynthia White is Lecturer in Directing at the University of Central Florida and Director of New Play Development at Orlando Shakes in Partnership with UCF. This past season she produced PlayFest 2018 presented by Harriett’s Charitable Trust and directed A Doll's House Part 2 by Lucas Hnath in Orlando Shakes' Signature Series. Previously at Orlando Shakes, she directed Dancing Lessons, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Native Gardensand produced PlayFest 2015–2017. At UCF she has directed The Lion in Winter, Boy Gets Girl and workshop productions of Intuitive Men and Bathsheba's Psalms in Pegasus PlayLab 2018. Past credits include being Associate Director and Director of Play Development at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and teaching at Pacific Lutheran University, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Western Washington University in Bellingham. She has directed professionally at numerous Shakespeare festivals, universities, and regional theatres around the country. This season she directs #GodHatesYou by Emily Dendinger at Pegasus PlayLab, Sweat by Lynn Nottage at UCF, and Becoming Dr. Ruth by Mark St. Germain at Orlando Shakes.
