CONSTRUCTION BEGINS!

UCF has completed the design stages and is moving into the construction phase of a premier performing arts center that will provide a full range of educational and performance capabilities to the Music and Theatre Programs. The Arts Complex II will provide Music and Theatre with exciting new teaching and learning facilities to house musical and theatrical performances. The design of this building has incorporated the work of top theatre architects and consultants such as HKS Architects, Duda/Paine Architects (design consultants), Theatre Projects Consultants (theatre planning and design consultants), and Kirkegaard Associates (acoustic design).

Phase I is comprised of the academic spaces for both departments, and Phase II will incorporated the performance spaces. Phase One is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2010.

UCF ALUMNI DAVID BLUE LEADS WORKSHOP

On April 10, UCF Conservatory Theatre Alumni, David Blue, lead a workshop entitled "Working the West Coast, TV, Film & LA." A full house of students got the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of making a career in LA with this informative and practical workshop.

Blue graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. A trained singer, dancer and actor, he found himself performing throughout the country, including work at the renowned Actor's Theatre of Louisville and winning a scholarship to the prestigious British Academy of Dramatic Arts. Upon realizing that compared to his theatre resume, his TV/Film credits were seriously lacking, Blue made the adventurous decision to pack up and move to Los Angeles to see what could come next. After years of commercials, industrials and modeling jobs, he's now leading a successful career in television and film.
