Glenn attended UCF from 1991-1994 and received a B.A. degree in Theatre (Design/Tech) and received his M.F.A. in Set & Lighting Design for Theatre from FSU in 1997.
From 1997-1999, Glenn worked two seasons as a technical assistant at the Washington Opera in Washington, DC, supervising the I.A.T.S.E. crew at the Kennedy Center for load-ins/strikes, and nightly performances. He specialized in 3D modeling in AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max. While there, his special project was to survey and build an AutoCAD 3D model of the interior of D.A.R. Constitution Hall, construct a theoretical stage and production space to meet the Opera’s needs, design a fictional production on stage, and render a fly-through showing what the view of an Opera performance would look like from multiple locations within the venue, all as part of a feasibility study as a possible temporary performance space for the Washington Opera while the Kennedy Center was dark for renovations…and yes, you either love opera or hate opera.
From 1999-2000, Glenn worked as an Associate Designer at Production Design Group in New York. PDG is a high-end Broadcast and Environmental design firm in Midtown Manhattan with multiple network credits and Emmy awards to their credit. He worked as a member of the design team for multiple broadcast and corporate theatre events, adding 3D modeling and rendering skills to the team’s skill set. Projects highlights include ESPN (SportsCenter, NFL Primetime), The NBA on TNT, and NBC Nightly News.
FX Design Group in Ocoee, FL, offered the opportunity to come back home to Florida after a year in the pressure cooker known as NY, and settle down and start a family. Glenn’s addition to the FX family was the formation of the design wing of FX Scenery & Display. FX up to that point had specialized in building & providing scenery for corporate theatre events for several years and was beginning to build custom sets for broadcast TV from outside designers. With the addition of design capabilities in-house, the Broadcast design market quickly became the company’s focus, and eventually led to the transformation to FX Design Group. FX is now a brand name nationally in the broadcast affiliate market, specializing in set, graphic, and lighting design, as well as fabrication and installation of sets, supplier and installer of lighting gear, and general experts in local affiliate broadcast news. In twelve years at FX, Glenn has been awarded five Broadcast Design Association Awards for best set including WESH-TV in Orlando, and two Emmy nominations for WCVB in Boston and KWTV in Oklahoma City.
Glenn has kept in touch with Theatre UCF, including serving as guest set designer for two main stage productions, Glengarry Glen Ross and Under Fire. He was Master Carpenter for the inaugural Summer Stock season at Theatre UCF in 1994, including serving as the first alumnus set designer for Holy Ghosts, the alumni show for that season.
