Rich Taylor

Rich Taylor is an accomplished leader with career chapters as live entertainment corporate executive, college dean and professional entertainer. The first decade of his entertainment career was spent as vocalist, producer, director and teacher with famed choral music pioneer and showman, Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians. He then joined Walt Disney Entertainment, and for the next 27 years advanced through a myriad of executive leadership positions including head of creative development, talent casting, special events, Director of Entertainment for Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris, and Corporate Director of Communication, Planning and Administration.

As Vice President of Disney Creative Entertainment and Costuming for ten years, Rich led a team and cast of nearly 5000 performers and entertainment professionals. He was the executive responsible for the creation of countless Disney parades, shows, marketing events, spectaculars and special events, including Fantasmic!, Illuminations, Tapestry of Nations, Festival of the Lion King, Tarzan Rocks!, the grand opening of Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the gala christenings of the Disney Cruise Line ships. He and his team also co-created and produced the Emmy Award-winning Walt Disney World Christmas Parade on ABC and the Super Bowl XXXIV halftime show.

In 2007, Taylor was named director and tenured professor at his alma mater, the University of Oklahoma/School of Musical Theatre. In 2008, he was promoted to Dean of OU’s College of Fine Arts, where he led the academic and operational teams for the Schools of Art and Art History, Dance, Drama, Music and Musical Theatre. Additionally, he was Executive Producer for OU University Theatre, overseeing 350 annual productions in Musical Theatre, Opera, Ballet, Modern Dance and Drama.

Rich is a two-time judge of the Miss America Pageant and sought after adjudicator and clinician for entertainment and choral music events. He is a recipient of the Lowell Mason Fellow award from the National Association for Music Education and served on Music Educators National Conference Advisory Board. Rich has served on the boards of the Orlando Ballet, Orlando Opera, The Florida State University School of Motion Picture, Television and Recording, Fred Waring’s America at Penn State and on the Oklahoma City Allied Arts Entertainment Committee. He has served on the Board of the Oklahoma Arts Institute and was Chairman of the Board of Creative Oklahoma, Inc. He is a recipient of Media Fellowship International’s Ambassador Award, and was named an official “Oklahoma Creativity Ambassador” by Governor Mary Fallin in 2012.

Since returning home to Orlando, Rich served as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida, where he also sits on the Rosen College Entertainment Management Degree Program Advisory Council and the College of Education and Human Performance Community Engagement Council. He is currently focused on his creative and consulting venture, RICH IMAGINATION, LLC, which brings his multi-faceted and diverse professional expertise to entities, large and small, who seek to inspire or enhance their creativity, communication, operation or process.
